The organization is truly dependent on the volunteers and we couldn’t do it without them.
I joined the board at the end of 2015, was voted to be the Board President in 2016 and was matched to be a mentor to a 9 year old boy in 2017. Each year has been better than the last. Being able to be have a positive influence on a young person or persons is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. I sometimes hear from mentors that they don’t feel like they are connecting – only to hear years later from the same mentee how special and influential that time was with their mentor. I enjoy many aspects of TRUE Mentors, including our events. Many of our events have been a lot of fun, such as the Chili Cook Off and Volunteer Appreciation Night.
My favorite part of TRUE Mentors is the relationships I have built, with our board, staff, volunteers and kids.
In addition to volunteering and serving on the board at TRUE Mentors, I also enjoy staying active – CrossFit, golf and skiing keep me busy. I am also a NY Giants fan and try to see my niece weekly since she is in Hoboken as well. My favorite summer activity in Hoboken is by far Pier 13 for dinner on a Tuesday or Wednesday during the summer.
2016 was a great year. I’m excited to see our new office space at Mission50 and for the TRUE Mentors Chili Cook-Off and Homebrew Contest on March 11th.
