Session 1: Race is biological.
This first session of several upcoming antiracism workshops will provide a foundation for participants. It will focus on the false and dangerous myth that race is biological, or that human races are biologically different. Participants will learn how this myth operated in the past and how it continues to operate today. Participants will have the opportunity to consider how this myth impacts their work. Resources will be available online so the learning can continue after the session concludes.
This 5-workshop Series lead by Alexis Jemal, J.D., LCSW, LCADC, PhD and Karen Gaffney, PhD, will provide safe, open, expert-lead discussions on numerous myths at the heart of systemic racism and unconscious bias. These workshops will include interactive exercises, educational presentations, follow-up activities, and open discussion periods.
