When did you first get involved with TRUE Mentors and why?
I first got involved in true mentors when i moved to hoboken about 4 years ago. A friend of mine at Hoboken Grace was very involved and suggested i check it out.
What program did you volunteer for and what was your experience like?
I volunteered for the weekly classes/programming. I immediately fell in love with the kids and the mission of the organization. The other volunteers had the same heart to see these kids grow and learn and the atmosphere was so encouraging! I also had a crazy work travel schedule and appreciated the flexibility in volunteering when I could.

What is your favorite TRUE Mentors moment?
By far watching the kids perform in the Annie play was my favorite moment! They worked hard for months rehearsing and it was amazing to see how proud they were at the end of the performance. They did AMAZING!

How has being a part of the TRUE Mentors community changed you? Challenged you? Rewarded you?
Being part of TRUE Mentors has given me perspective on life in Hoboken. Many times we take for granted the things we have been blessed with and do not realize right in our community there are kids that are struggling in circumstances and situations that far surpass our everyday concerns. Many of the kids just need someone to show they care and that they are there to support them no matter what. I am still amazed at the number of middle and high school kids that are showing up every week. That is not an accident, and its not because they have no other place to go (they could easily just hang out around Hoboken). But they show up knowing they have a safe place to find support, love and encouragement.
