Thank You Hoboken Pizza Lovers!

Hoboken Happy Hours Raises over $7,000 for TRUE Mentors

On October 15th, TRUE Mentors teamed up with Hoboken Happy Hours to host the first annual Hoboken Pizza Fest at the Elk’s Lodge in Hoboken. We were excited to help host this event with HHH and we were absolutely blown away by the number of people who came out to eat pizza and support our mentoring program in Hoboken. We can’t thank the pizza lovers of Hoboken enough for supporting this event! Through your support, we are able to provide one month of mentoring opportunities for 134 children! WOW! Thank you Hoboken pizza lovers for giving the gift of mentoring this year. You are all TRUE-ly amazing.

Our favorite moment of the pizza fest was having the opportunity for our teen interns to volunteer together with their mentors. This was their first volunteer opportunity of the school year and it is safe to say, they had a blast serving up slices and speaking to our guests about the volunteer opportunities at TRUE Mentors. All of our teen interns are matched with a mentor and many of them participated in our enrichment club program when they were younger.

The impact a mentor can have on a child lasts a lifetime. We are still in need of mentors. Interested volunteers can apply online and join us on Tuesday nights at our enrichment club program from 6-8pm at the Boys & Girls Club (123 Jefferson Street, Hoboken).

We learned a lot this year about hosting a pizza fest and look forward to making improvements for next year, including bringing in more pizza places, keeping the pizza hot, fresh and readily available, and of course, keeping the beer and wine flowing!

We hope you come out next year to support mentoring programs and Hoboken and, of course, eat all the pizza and drink all the beer. Remember, #itsforthekids
