TRUE Mentors Hosts Community Dinner

The month of October at TRUE Mentors features Cooking Club for our middle school students. “This is one of our most popular Clubs,” stated Executive/Program Director, Katie Eades, “There is something special about coming together to cook a meal. Our mentee’s get so excited to cook a new dish and see their finished product.” Each month a volunteer from the community signs up to host a 3-week Enrichment Club. This month, Board Member James Sproule signed up to teach the 6th-8th grade students to cook.  “I am excited to host cooking club this month and teach our middle school student’s how to prepare a large meal and serve their family and friends in the community. The community dinner is hosted is at the Hoboken Housing Authority Community room each month by founder, Julia Cruz. Juila invited TRUE Mentors to speak at their last community dinner to help connect more families to our programs. Julia started these dinners to “encourage the residents of Hoboken to come together and care to know each other as members of the same community, and ultimately strengthen and build relationships across all of Hoboken. I’m excited for the TM mentees to engage in their community by preparing food that they will then enjoy in the company of their neighbors!”

This event is FREE and open to the public. Join TRUE Mentors on October 10th from 7:30-9pm and enjoy some awesome food cooked by our mentors & mentees!
