There’s nothing wrong with celebrating your own birthday, and TRUE Mentors kicked off 2017 doing just that!
On Saturday, January 28th, TRUE Mentors turned six years old! Our celebration took place at the Boys & Girls Club, where Mentors, Mentees and our supporters gathered to celebrate six great years, while also looking ahead to many many more in the future. During the party, we recognized three Mentor-Mentee matches who earned our prestigious Matches of the Year honor. Our Matches of the Year: Leslie and Amiah, Nicole and Destiny, and Ryan and Devin (pictured right) each received a prize basket of fun activities to do together. Thank you to Mason Civic League for sponsoring the prizes as well as sponsoring the prizes for our raffles. We also recognized our Program Director, Rebecca Denaro, for her years of service to the organization. We want to thank the City of Hoboken for coming out to support us and for recognizing our Program Director, Rebecca Denaro for her dedication to the TRUE Mentors mission.
Earlier this month, we hosted a beer-flight happy hour at Departed Soles in Jersey City. Not only were we able to raise over $200 for our Enrichment Club Program, but we also took the opportunity to sign folks up for our upcoming 8th Annual Chili Cook Off and Homebrew Contest. There are still limited spaces available in the contest, so put your cooking and brewing skills to the test! Use the code TRUEMENTORS for $10 off the ticket price. Visit www.hobokenchilicookoff.com for more information.
Coming up next month, we have a Valentine’s Day celebration at Wine & Design on February 13th at 7:30 PM. We’ll be painting small canvases of our home state of NJ, so come out and invite your friends and family as we paint it forward! A portion of the ticket sales will benefit TRUE Mentors. For more information and to sign up, please visit Wine&Design.com or the TRUE Mentors Event Calendar.
